Hello to each,
Whilst I am waiting delivery of my SS32 I need to source appropriate hard disks.
There is info on the S/S site about recommended HD's but I am unsure about sizes - my first instinct is to get the largest I can. However will the size affect access speed and would it be better to use middling [40-60 Gig] for recording on and perhaps a larger for backup, resting projects etc
Any comments on this or sourcing HD's in the UK would be gratefully received

It comes in 3 models ... 80, 100, & 120 Gb.
HOWEVER, before buying ANY harddrive for your SS system, you must check for compatibility. Check the SS bulletin board and/or contact SS directly.
BTW, if you haven't visited the SS bulletin board, you really should. It used to be open to SS owners only, but about a year ago I convinced them to open it to the public for read only usage, so that prospective buyers may have the opportunity to see what their users are experiencing with the SS products. It's very unlike other manufacturer's BBs, in that it's predominantly pros discussing system usage specifics rather than people complaining about the company and kids babbling about their "loops" ... lol.
Enjoy, and best wishes with your new system.

I've been using a 60 gig 7200 RPM Maxtor on my Soundscape 32 (in the US, you can pick these up nearly anywhere these days--I was in a hurry, going to a live gig, so I bought this one at "Best Buy", a "big-box" merchandiser half a mile from my home.)
