Hi guys,
I have a project studio, mostly rock oriented.
I work with a 2408mkII a G4/400 and Audiodesk.
I use this setup exactly liek a multitrack recorder, in fact I mix everyhting thru an analog desk.
I'm wondering if it may be of any help to switch to DP instead of AD. What DP is can offer more to me?
please help if you can.

ciao
ronnie

Ronnie,
I went from audio desk to DP. I'm really happy with DP and I also do mostly rock and not a lot of midi (though some). The primary difference with DP is that you get all that Performer offers (mostly midi) and everthing AD has and more. Better graphics and more/better plugs... Hope that helps.... Oh yea, you will get DP3 free if you get 2.7.2 now, it offers even more plugs, surround sound etc.. and is supposed to be a total face lift for DP ..No I'm not a rep...

Hi Chris,
Sorry, but acording to MOTU (unless the're telling me stories) the cut off date for a free upgrade was Jan 18th (of course that's if you purchased 2.7.2). And that's why I waited till Jan. 30 to make my purchase.
If I'm wrong please let me know.... I don't like people pullin my chain as I'm sure no one else does.

One big benefit of upgrading to DP is being able to punch-in more than once in a record pass, another is plug-in automation but that's not as important if it's just a multi-track for you. The new plug-ins are free for AudioDesk user's on the MOTU site, they just don't take any pains to point this out to possible upgraders. Download MAS 2.11 and replace all the MAS plug-ins in System Folder>Extensions>MOTU>Plug-ins with the updated versions, plus you add the MasterWorks plugs. I would keep the old versions of the EQ, PreAmp-1, and Ring Mod (a separate download), as these didn't work properly for me. The new Multimode filter didn't work but the MasterWorks stuff works great...

i've been using since 2.1 and i have only paid for an upgrade once i think. like 2.4 maybe... or 2.5. i dunno, i've been floored everytime they put out a new version i hear... if you already have... then its on its way in the mail free!

motu is a great company [who needs a total dedicated control surface :D sorry, had to put that in there]
