Thank you for the replies!

Any suggestions (programs) to test the CD for errors?
Which virgin CD would you reccomand?

I am from South Africa and I am in the process of starting a mastering facility which I want to develop over time (as I don't have the capital to buy my dream list of equipment now, good gear is rare here and the exchange rate to the dollar is not very faroble).

I have been using Sadie and Sonic S. in 2 different studios as a DAW with other analoge processing units.

At present all I have is Logic and Protools with which I process the tracks. I need therefore a program which alows me to
Peak and Cue the tracks and write out a CD ready for the CD plant. Is there anything else one could use instead of the above mentioned programs? Any other suggestions?

RE: Which "virgin" discs?
Here are some media tests I conducted last week.

I'm using a Plextor Premium and PlexTools Pro for error checking media.

Here's some results of various media.(summarized):
CD-R Media Burn Tests
I've completed the first run of tests.

CD Audio tests were burned with CD Architect at 4x. 1- 10 minute sine wave was recorded. Low numbers are better. Number of allowed errors/sec = 220.
Test conducted by reading the media with Plextor Premium drive and
PlexTools Pro Software. Running C1/C2/CU
Results below are sorted by TOTAL errors. Best results are at the top.

MMH - Clover is the - less "budget friendly" option.

For the most part, you don't need anything beyond whatever your PQ editor is to write - You DO need the additional error-checking beyond whatever "comparison" check might be included in your PQ editor. For example, Samplitude does a "comparison check" after the burn to make sure the file was written properly. It doesn't check the block error rate.

I've turned into a hardcore Samplitude freak. I use Samplitude Professional. That's basically my favorite. Haven't found a reason to go up to Sequoia... Can't even get one from Sequoia users.

Other than that, I understand there is a stripped-down version called Samplitude Master that's crazy cheap, but I would imagine it uses similar PQ editing and burning tools. There's some sort of WaveLab "lite" version I've heard about also...

No idea what the limitations are on either of them.
