Hi Guys,

I'm looking for info on the available models of SONTEC equalizers and can't find anything! Not even their website!

Has anyone got a source for info or could provide me with pictures, pdf's, etc.

I'm about to buy a GML 8200, but want to make sure that I don't prefer a Sontec over it.

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Charles

Thanks Brad, I live in Europe and it's a little difficult for me to make international phone calls where we can speak long enough to work things out. Do you have email contacts? In the meantime, do you have any info at all like specs, etc. pdf's of any kind would be great as well as some photos.

I've used the 8200 heaps of times and thought it was the best EQ man had ever built, so now you've got me very curious..?

Anything?

You sure are quick off the mark, thanks for the time & trouble. I've heard lots of people praising the Sontecs but I've never actually laid hands (or ears) on one but did know of the history behind them.

Are they in the same price range? or are the Sontecs a little more pricey not being as much as a celebrity as the GML's?

I think I'm heading down the right track if you say you find them more transparent...

I think I had it the wrong way around, being more of a celebrity (GML) would mean higher price right, the GML 8200 has a list price of $5,000 plus $525 for the 8355 power supply.

The equivalent Sontec MEQ-250EX has a list price of $2,650 including PS. I have also found a used MEP-250 EQ in very good condition for $2,000, so this is all very pleasing news for me.

One thing though Brad, I noticed on your website that the MEP-250EX you use is a custom version. Would you be kind enough to tell me what differences it has from the standard version?

Thanks,

Charles
