Any out of the ordinary sugguestions(not beta57 from 6"...kinda' suggestions)but different mic placement, different mics that sorta' thing.
The band is jazz rock(kinda like phish)
The player is great.Bluesy,rocky,jazzy,creative...
Anyway,these are my options:

Audix,Sennheiser.

Now...my room options:
1 ton pro isolation booth 9'x9'
15'x20'tracking room w/carpet&hardwood,foam walls
25'x30'tracking room w/tile floor 2'stage
riser,concrete walls
I am hard drive recording.36x24 console
Any suggestions will definitly lead to attempts.

I like to throw a few different mics up. Maybe a 421 and 57 close to grille with the capsules even. The U87 or 414 close could be nice too. I like to get a mic off the cab if I can, maybe 8" to 3 feet back in either cardiod or omni depending on what the room sounds like. Sometimes the omni mic is all you need. Another cool thing for beefy rhythm guitar tracks is to throw a mic behind the cab and flip the phase on it. Other then that, use your ears. Walk around the room and find a cool spot to throw a mic.
