This link is to a STELAR thread @ homerecording.com/bbs

The point is, stop asking which mic' is best for what..
and where to place, and what to do.. and "bla blaah blah.."
"I have no clue."
THERE IS NO ANSWER,..
Only opinions.
"Someone can 'give' you a fish, and you can enjoy one meal,..
but I would prefer being taught to fish for myself."

This thread is long, but if your sick of not understanding, and being dependt on the opinions of strangers, this is where you want to be...
thread starts out slow, but gradually comes to kick some searious @$$

I am one that has always and continues to preach that it is far more important and that people will learn more things of value if they experiment with mic placement and gain direct experience of what does work and what does not work, rather than to do what everybody else does and or what is most popularly done.

Hey Harvey.. Quick Question, assuming i still have your attention.

Rather than ask you what the "best" pre-amp is for my application
I would rather ask if your up to the job of creating another Killer Thread,.. cept' about pre-amps this time.
If one were to of pulled NETHING from your Mic thread, it would be,..

That very question (above) is one of ignorance @ its finest.

Neways ..
The proposal stands..
So what I'll do is post a thread @ HomeRecording™ much like
Chris F's under Equipment Forums > The Rack.

So.. if you get to it.. You get to it
If not.. ::shrug:: ::sigh::
Anyways.. I appreciate your time & contribution to the community.
thnx

Harvey,
I have read both of your discussions and learned so much. I feel like I must tell you Thank You. I have a question though. I have a GXL 2200 and like it pretty well on my voice but on my partners voice it is really bright and brittle on the top end. i am looking at some different mic's and want to get something to give my voice a silkier sound and his voice a little more warmth. I have been looking at tube mics and like what I hear about the CAD M9. Is a tube mic going to give me what I'm after or do I need a ribbon or just a different pre? I currently use a Presonus Tube Pre and am looking at getting a Safesound P1, Great River or John Hary single channel pre. Thank you again Harvey. you are a credit to your profession.
