Hi everyone!

I'll be purchasing Logic 7 soon and I was hoping someone could tell me how to master a track as best I can with the plugins supplied with it.

I realize it won't be nearly as good as a proper experienced engineer with high end equipment but I need to do some sort of mastering as the tracks I record often get played on radio way before the whole e.p./album is ready to be mastered properly.

I am especially interested in how to get the tracks to sound louder without compressing them till they squash.

Thanks for your help.

This is my favorit question. Check out my website as well as other mastering studio sites that have done records you like. See what they say.
I wish I could tell you to do 1-2-3 and it would be there. Asking how to master is no different than asking how to mix.
If you do this on your own use your ears to the best of your ability. The proper eq balance is most important. If a song is balanced well it sounds great. No one cares if they have to turn it up. But if the eq is bad but loud so what. You have a loud track that no one really enjoy's.

Listen to your track and compare to things you love. Then tweak until yours is in the ballpark. Stop listening to the other stuff and now listen to your own. I would start with the vocal.Make sure the vocal is sitting right. Then the bottom and top balance.
After 10 years or so it will start sounding great!!
