While mixing down, occasionally the light on the MSP 5s will flash red or orange (probably a quicker flash of red) when a harder transient is hit.

Should I be worried about this? I was told that if you could tell it was red, and not that it was flashing, that it was something you needed to work on; someone else told me it should never flash, and that it was producing an SPL that was too high for the speaker.

Who was correct?

Also, what exactly does the red ligh indicate?

(and a very minor question-- how accurate are the Radio Shack SPL meters? I'm having a 'feverent conversation' about 85 decibles being what Radio Shack is saying, and someone else says that it's "too low to be 85."
