I had a bit of a problem, actually a really big problem, I had to free some space in my hard drive so I used Nuendo's pool to delete the media that wasn't being used. I tried this and some of the data that was being used was erased forever, as you can see some of my clients were sort of pissed, but I was wondering what I did wrong, and if someone could give me some tips about how to export entire sessions in nuendo, saving space in external hard drives or other media.

When you start a new project you create a folder which will contain the song file and 3 other folders (audio, images and edits). Just copy the entire folder to your back up media (I use DVD's) BEFORE you do any disk clean up. If you are running out of space you should consider a second hard drive. Keep your system files and programs on your main drive and your projects on the second drive.

I use Nuendo, and delete unused files all the time by the same method, and that never happened to me. did you use a same project folder for different songs / mixes, meaning sharing the Audio folder with other songs?? like the last person was saying, you should create a new project folder for each song. but if you did everything right, then I'd like to know what exactly you did to delete the files being used in the project because it'd piss me off, too even as a producer. so I want to avoid it before that happens to me.

I prefer to keep my Pool "Clean" from the get go. Undo is your friend - and use it for ANY bad takes.

Ditto on the New Folder for each project with its OWN Audio sub-folder.

Something I found out - if you create a TEMPLATE from a project that has Audio, and create a new project from that Template, the Template seems to re-open the SAME POOL (the "Old" Pool) - and not create a new pool even IF you create a new project folder (It uses Audio from the original Pool that the Template was created from). Does this sound correct - or was I smoking rock that day?

did you duplicate the whole folder with template in it? and it still saves audio files in the old Audio folder? that sounds weird, but I guess if you should be able to set the location for the audio files in Nuendo, I don't know where though. :(
