LOL. I guess I'm simple. I've never been so entertained by such a simple program.

festival is the old standby. Steven Hawkings and various TV sounds are derived from that old hat. A pretty no brainer in linux.

	$ echo "who is that lady" | festival --tts


	$ echo "who is that lady" > temp.txt

	$ text2wave < temp.txt > temp.wav

There's also speexenc / speexdec and other means to an end. Not for the faint at heart.
