Hi,
I've been asked a bit unusual favor of replacing all electrolytic caps in a 30-year old SSL console. Originally, the console was built using Panasonic caps. I'm interested if anyone has had any experience with this sort of thing and might suggest a caps manufacturer for the replacements. There are about 4,000 caps ranging from 1 - 220uF/25V. Of course, we're talking limited budget here.

There are no 30 year old SSL consoles... are there? That would put 1975 as the first year of manufacture... I don't believe they started building desks until a few years subsequent... neither here nor there. Is the desk an "E series" or the "B series"... the "B series" desks had some rather serious operational issues from what I understand
As for replacements caps... Panasonics are probably the way to go... you also get a good bit longer life from the 105' caps than from the 85' caps and while they're more expensive on a per unit basis... not having to recap the desk again for an extra few years more than makes up for the upfront expense.
I would probably source them from "Digi-Key"
