hello everyone. I'm new to home recording, and I've recently bought some hardware and software to start recording. I've recorded a few simple things with Amplitube, but I'm wanting to get into compositions, and this requires something more like Acid Pro 7.0 so I can layer tracks and things like that.
my first problem with Acid Pro is that there is a latency issue when just listening to what I'm playing live. I pluck a note, then half a second later, it sounds through the computer speakers.
second problem is I don't know how to run Amplitube as a plugin through Acid Pro. I see the Amplitube plugin in the plugin manager box in AP3, but can't seem to activate it.
not sure where to go from here. help is definitely needed and appreciated.
also, I'm using an M-Audio Fast Track Ultra as my audio to digital interface and Windows XP SP3

ok, found a way to use the Amplitube plugin. but now, Acid Pro 7.0 isn't recognizing the instrument input from my M-Audio Fast Track Ultra. I was able to get it to recognize JUST the instrument yesterday and no amplitube. I haven't changed anything, so I'm not sure what's going on. I looked through the tutorials, and the manual, and I'm not sure where to go from here.

Regardless of what the manual says, never let Microsoft mapper choose your audio driver. Choose the correct ASIO driver for your interface.
Acid is $300, Amplitube is $350 that's a $650.00 investment that you are using with a $99 interface. Pardon me for being skeptical. You should search the index and the appendix for setup options. Get to know the software you paid your hard earned money to acquire. A little hard work will pay off now and in the future. All DAWs work in a similar way. Once you figure this part out, you'll have it pretty well figured out for any other DAW you happen to use.
I'm avoiding telling you what to do for two reasons. 1: you need to learn this for yourself. 2: I have my suspicions that you did not purchase this software.
Even then, I've helped you a considerable amount already. You've been pointed in the right direction I guarantee that with a little reading, you should be able to figure this out.

for someone who is telling me to do some reading myself, you don't seem to do it yourself. it's a $350 interface. and I did buy the software, I'm just completely new to this, and I've changed everything in the audio settings tab and preferences. somehow, I was able to get it to recognize the instrument 2 nights ago but no amplitube, and now it's the opposite. thanks for pointing me to a part in the manual which I already looked over and already knew the answers to, and thanks for treating me like a kid and "trying to get me to figure it out" as if I'm a lazy numbskull that hasn't been researching and changing anything I can manage to get this to work. is this the kind of treatment you give new people here? if so, that's pretty goddamn ridiculous.

Often these user forums require you to register with your software serial number. This is the most basic setup issue and I did point you in the right direction.

1) Alright. Just because I can't verify whether you are legit or not, here's what I would do. Go to options/preferences/audio tab. Under Audio Device type select the Fast Track ultra or M-Audio ASIO, whichever is listed there. Ignore, Microsoft Mapper, ASIO Multimedia and ASIO Full Duplex altogether.
2)Now go to the VST Effects tab and under the alternate VST plugin Folder select the folder where amplitube is installed. This may be in C:ProgramsSteinbergVST even if you don't have any Steinberg software installed. Many plugins default to this folder as VST is a Steinberg technology.
3)Click on the record button and in the popup window select your input#1. If you can't see input #1 then you haven't set up your devices properly. Go back to step one and check your settings. Name your track guitar 1 or whatever you want. Record a take. Click on the little green plugin icon and select amplitube.
On the other hand, Acid is the last program I would choose for recording. Great for looping but not a great multitrack recorder.
