Hi,

I had some beyers DT 250 for musicians but they've been stolen. They were good, I like them a lot, but now I'm in a tight budget due to the robery (the beyers were not the only stuff they stole, ouch)... and now I've found a very good price for the Fostex T50RP, and just wanted someone's opinion, cause I've never tried fostex headphones.

Any help will be appreciated

I have a few pairs of T-20's around. They're ok, I run into problems with bleed while cutting vocals or with click tracks. They also slide around and they seem pretty fragile. I have a whole bunch of Audio Technica ATH-M40 and D40's. Those are solid, loud, durable decent sounding headphones. The only problem I've had with about 5 pairs in 3 years is that cheap ass 1/4" plug. It'll break the first time you look at it crooked, just replace it with a decent one like a Switchcraft or Neutirk and all's well.

This is an important point!
I slam mine with a 50 watt amp so you will have to test this yourself.

I have a couple pairs of the T-20's, I've always treated them with care because they do seem a little fragile, but the loudness hasn't been a problem. I've used them with a Tascam 1506 analog board's headphone out, a Mackie LM-3204's phone out, and an older live board - all were plenty loud. The sound quality could be better, but it's OK for the money... Steve

Thank you guys for the assistance, it's been quite helpful. Last time I was close to buy a couple of AKGs I had the chance to try them almost seconds before ordering them... they were so quiet! Therefore I went for the Beyers. Still, if someone has tried both Fostex and Beyer DT250 and could give some opinions on one compared to the other, I'm all ears.

Thanks a lot.

Well, the AT's can be found cheaper and aren't as fragile. YMMV. Low impedance is good, that means they need less power to get them loud. But, you'll still need an amp.
