Do you park your bass drum when you do fills?

there is always the tendency that when you are doing something intensive in one area, you let other areas slide.

I always tell my students that keeping the feet going is what keeps your fills from speeding up (or slowing down)

besides if you are doing something polyrhythmic, you need to have something to be polyrhythmic against.

I am not schooled but a solid drummer anywho. And recently I converted over to the Kick through fill side of the house and WOW! It has made an amazing difference in my ability to do more complex fills. Once I stop thinking about it falls out. I am not there yet but, soon will be. Try it you might like it.
