I havn't tried the newest bass model yet, but the new guitar version was much better sounding than the original units IMHO.

I'm using a Warwick, "Thumb bass" neck through fretted 4 string and I love it (plays like a dream!) ......routing wise I'm going straight out of a Bass Podxt pro into an avalon u5 DI and into a Mackie HDR. the sound is nothing less than AWESOME!!....consistant tones every time.......I very much recomend it !!!

Wow, big money grips! I have a Mackie SDR (couldn't afford the HDR ---still can't)
I love my SDR24/96. I am surprised more guys on here don't use a standalone recorder for there music.
I also have the U5. That is a nice DI.
FYI---My bass sounds awesome going straight through my Great River MP2NV. Very nice tone
Mostly I use my Ampeg SVT pro III.....5 tubes in the pre-amp alone, enough said.

Yeah!....I dont know why more people dont use the "HDR"? I run mine into a Ghost 24/8 with stunning results as far as I'm concernd. I prefer "outboard" gear over anything else. the whole "Pro tools" thing seems never ending to me.

I was concidering the great river pre but ended up going with a GML 4 chnl. and a API 4312 mostly for my kicks and snare. I feel I can acheive anything I need with those two pre's and also, the ghost's pre's arent half bad either I think they hold their own for what they are. ....peace out!
