noise

Ive played around with cakewalk music creator pro24 and sound forge 6, i found some smooth/enhance and i smooth it way out... and it clears the hiss up, but now my highs are muffled out and muffled when before the tone was perfect... but the hiss was insane.

ive also messed with my volumes thru the mixer, but that doesnt do shit. wow im learning

If I understand you correctly, you are not using a michrophone and are recording thru a mono send?? into a mixer, into a DAW. What are you recording? Are you getting a hiss from a DI box?? Are you getting a hiss from the mixers EQ??..........................

Can you bypass any components on the way?

There are a few Noise reduction programs out there.

Look into products from Sonic Foundry/Sony Noise Reduction 2.0. BIAS, Soundsoap.
Waves Restoration Bundle (very expencive).
And more.

Make sure it is Direct-X compatible, for SF 6.0
