Hey guys I'm looking for a tool that will help me bring out transient attack in toms (or anything else). I've used transient designers quite a bit and the success rate with those aren't as high as I'd like. I've been doing some digging and I found a video from a YouTube channel I'm subscribed to that has a plugin that seems to do this ok but I can't find where to buy the damn thing.

It drives me bat sh*t crazy when people show off a product and then don't link to where to buy it! Anyways do you guys maybe know of any other tools that could help me bring the attack out of sh*tty toms? Thanks!

Thanks for the tips guys!

Try Alloy by [[url=http://[/URL]="http://www.izotope…"]Izotope[/]="http://www.izotope…"]Izotope[/], the transient shaper on that plug in is the best I've used, it's multiband if you want which is even better.

I'll have to check it out, hopefully they have a fully functioning demo.

What DAW are you using? Dupe the track(s). On the dupe, use a high pass filter around 800 Hz, add a compressor with a slow attack, heavy ratio(4:1 or more). Otherwise, you can always use drum replacement.

I use Studio One, Cubase 6, and Logic depending on what I 'm doing although Logic doesn't see much action these days. I've done similar things in the past except instead of duplicating the track I just use a send and high pass that. I haven't went that aggressive with the filtering for this application though. I'll give it a go.

If you have any VSTi virtual drums, you can just replace the blowful sounding drums with good sounding samples. So if all else fails, cheat. There are some things that just cannot be polished.

Here's one of many videos that show you how to do drum replacement in StudioOne, He's using Native-Instruments Kontact:
