Hi newbie here,
So Im thinking of Getting a G4 for DP. So whats the deal on classic within OSX? Do I need to make
a partition for each OS, or just use a retail version of OS 9x on a partition?

First of all, DP won't run in classic under OS X.
So, you'll have to re-boot to OS 9 to use it.
As far as partitions go, OS 9 + X can share a single partition if you like. Or they can go on different partitions (or drives) -- doesn't matter to the OS.
But, my suggestion is to stick with OS 9. If you want to screw around on X, use another drive. I personally prefer not to mix environments, especially my DP projects are on the disk. You also might want to consider keeping DP + your audio on a disk other than the boot disk, too.
