Here's a few links for current Linux audio apps. See the above http://sound.condorow.net/one-page.html for a (mostly) complete list.

[="http://alsamodular.sourceforge.net/"]AlsaModularSynth[/]="http://alsamodular…"]AlsaModularSynth[/] - Real time synth and effects processor

[Spiral Synth Modular[/]="http://www.pawfal.o…"]Spiral Synth Modular[/] - Another synth

amSynth - Analogue modelling synth.

[="http://www.wakkanet.fi/~kaiv/ecasound/welcome.html"]ecasound[/]="http://www.wakkanet…"]ecasound[/] - Multipurpose audio effects processor / wave editor

[Rosegarden[/]="http://www.all-day-…"]Rosegarden[/] - Audio and MIDI sequencer

[="http://ardour.sourc…"]Ardour[/]="http://ardour.sourc…"]Ardour[/] - And then of course, there's Ardour. Ardour will probably be the the 'killer app' for Linux audio once it is completed. You can download the source via CVS and compile it, but be warned --it's probably not going to be easy.

Just a quick note to say hello and note that the preferred URL for my site is http://linux-sound.org. Thanks to Michael John for the invitation to check out recording.org, I hope we can establish some good dialog here.

Btw, ecasound is not a wave editor but it is a powerful command-line multitrack/multichannel recorder. Actually it's more than that but I don't have much time to adequately describe it right now.

Also btw: Ardour isn't that hard to build if you have the correct components. It's looking pretty good these days. IIRC the PlanetCCRMA package includes everything needed to successfully build Ardour, so that might be the best way for anyone who'd like to give it (and all the other PlanetCCRMA goodies) a trial run.

I admire the great Windows and Mac audio software out there, and I'm happy to see Linux attract some attention in the pro audio field. We still have a journey ahead of us, but the ride is getting easier.

DAVE! What a quick response! I really appreciate that you've come to check us out, and I hope that you enjoy the site. Your site provides such a huge pool of resources that it could keep me busy for years. But then again, I'm a Linux nOOb, so I'm happy just to find Linux info that I can understand! LOL
