I was reading the Lynx Two PDF info file from Lynx's website, and they mention that the Lynx Two B is an "ideal choice for mixing and post-production, including 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound". The "B" model is the 2-in, 6-out version.

I can see how mixing (and monitoring) can be done in 5.1, but how could someone use 6 outs for 7 channels of audio?

Who's missing something here, me or them?

Poor wording on Lynx's part.

Since you can put multiple cards in one system (including 1 L 2 B and one L22), you can configure to do 7.1.

Of course, the real question - are you really DOING 7.1? Not to be a pain in the ass, but most people aren't. If they are, they're usually using something like the AES16 and coming out into outboard converters.

In which case, I can say from experience, that this setup (AES 16 + converters) works beautifully for 7.1 monitoring.

No. But I am doing 5.1. I don't really care about 7.1 at this time, but the reason I asked the question is because if they somehow had a way to actually do 7.1 with one Lynx Two B, then I would have to ask if 5.1 could be done on one Lynx Two A (4-in, 4-out). That way I could have 2 more inputs available. I highly doubted it, but thought maybe there was some studio secret I was missing.
