There has been a lot of "discussion" regarding what preamps to use for what application...a great resource for all...
I suggest, though, that personal evaluations of X vs Y not enter too much into the posting of opinions...sifting through the pissing contests gets to be a bit much...Perhaps if people would just say they like or dislike and why, and save blasting a product for another thread.
If someone likes a Bananahead preamp, it suits their needs and budget, then lets not all start slamming the guys who actually like the Bananahead...since I am not in their studio, and have no idea what they consider good or bad, how the heck can I make a judgement?
Please...Lets not get too involved in a modified 'foam vs fiberglass' fiasco.
Just my opinion...I'll shut up now.

fair enough but we are audio freaks and that's what we do... my ex-wife used to hate what she called my "black boxes" but she didn't understand at all. (that's precisely why she is my ex!) Since I sold my studio I've been working almost exclusively in my own projects and that's makes it harder to buy new toys... (but I still do manage!)
I am seriously considering taking on a couple of outside projects so I can have a budget again... ther is nothing like a project with a budget, the bigger the budget the better. then you really will see the proliferation of black boxes in the landscape (shall I say soundscape?) Now, seriously, the preamp thing might just be a pissing contest but hey, we are having fun!
