To be honest I regret buying the Mobo, and Pro cause i could have got better ones, but I was being impatient at the time and was determined to leave the shop with something, and ended up paying £30 extra when I could have got it cheaper or better off the net, but I will just be humble and see how it goes.
I have just bought these good and in the process of assembling them now. This will be my first DAW and PC made for my self !

    Motherboard: Asus KV8-X 64Bit
    Processor: AMD Athlon 64it 3000+ (Newcastle) (Overclocking as we speak)
    Ram: Corsair (VS1GBKIT400C3) 1024MB (2 x 512MB Matched Pair), DDR400 / PC3200, non-ECC, Unbuffered, CL3
    Video:Sapphire ATI Radeon 9200SE 128MB DDR 8x AGP
    HDD1:Maxtor Diamondmax Plus 9 120Gb 7200rpm 8mb Cache HDD2:Maxtor Diamondmax 10 200Gb 7200rpm ATA133 8mb Cache

Primary Use, Only for Audio Recording, Use of Virtual Samplers and Instruments. I'm Crossing Over from my Akai DPs16 to the PC.

do you mean the Asus K8V-X motherboard?

if so, then according to your manual your computer will downclock to 333 FSB with the use of 2 dual sided sticks of ram (512 MB sticks are dual sided).

CL3 is pretty crappy ram, A64 likes low latencies (like 2)

Overclocking too much will bring instability, you don't have an AGP/PCI lock. If things become buggy, retard your OC if it's more than 200mhz or so.

If you are looking for overclocking stability get a motherboard with the "K8T800 pro" or NF3 chipset. Those have AGP/PCI frequency locks.

If you want a great DAW, you will sacrifice some overclcock for stability.

For the mean time I am stuck with this setup, mad bad choices in buying of parts but untill i can purchase better bits
what ways can I enhance performance?

I cant see to find a comprehensive guide to Overclocking.
I can find great tweak guides though.

i played around with the FSB and the cpu started making funny noises.

Overclocking isn't always the best or needed thing to do. Technology has it going pretty efficient as you can get today..besides, you're not going to get that much more out of a CPU in the long run...plus AMD CPU's are hot enough as it is..hope you have an air conditioning unit inside and some killer thermal paste on the heat sink.

Set the BIOS to the DEFAULT settings and don't mess with the CPU..
