My current pc is a 1hz pentium 3 with 512mb ram and two 60 gig HDs. I use a Tascam us-428 for my control surface and to get my audio on to the computer, and I use Sonar 2.0 for my software. Apple is offering some decent deals on the G4's...and i am wondering if I go over to mac can I still use what i have now (Sonar .Tascam)? Or is it not even worth it to get a mac and just buy a pc for 300-400 cheaper?

thank
jeremy

Cakewalk used to distribute Metro for Mac. Metro Six is now available, it's currently the only Daw that supports Audio Units and VST.

I suggest Logic or Digital Performer. Steinberg's mac support is poor, so I only run their products on my PC.

Depends on what type of work you are doing. Do you need to be compatible with Avid or Digidesign facilities? Is the software you want Mac-only? Are you a business?

In my case the software I prefer is Mac only, Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro, DP and Logic.

I would like to use the mac for mixing, so I would probally record the drums, bass and the main guitar part on my pc...then save the tracks onto a external HD and then upload the tracks to the mac for mixing. I also have cubase sx, and i saw that there is version for macs...could i use cubase and both pc and mac, and then just use the cubase file instead of mixing down each track seperately?
