I use this computer to access the internet as well as a DAW. Its not my main machine. I use this basically as a guitar processor. I have a Guitarport as well as Amplitube running through Sonar. Its also used for online gaming. Its my workhorse machine. My recorder is seperate.

I play poker online and I am running this machine on a wireless router which is in my house. I have another computer in the house which is hardwired into the router. I cannot play against my wife because when we try to join the same table it says we are sharing an ip address. There is software available that when installed will access the internet via a proxy server effectively giving this machine a new ip address. However I dont want to install it if its going to screw with things or install bunch of spyware/adware.

i was just wondering if ne1 had used a program like this and knew for sure that it did not install any nefarious programs.

You shouldn't need a proxy server application for this. The router should be able to dedicate different NAT addresses for you. Typically they will be something like 192.168.0.1 for one machine and 192.168.0.2 for the other machine.

A proxy server if anything will limit and stop you from being able to access other sites and it's rather a pain to constantly set up.

Check with your router set up to make sure it's not hindering you from doing what you want.
