Hi, newbie in many ways here.
I am using Garageband to pitch bend an imported audio file. However, on some of them, even when I am only going down a half step, there is distortion in the sound. Basically, it sounds like intense vibrato in the piano or guitar.
So, is there something I can do differently in Garageband or am I going to have to get a more sophisticated piece of software?

It is distorting because it is having trouble processing that information, I haven't used garage band enough to give you a clear answer, but the problem is one of two things. One could be your computer can not handle that type of processing power so it is overloading the system, but I doubt that unless you have a really slow computer. The other is Garage band can not handle it, and you need to upgrade. But try restarting your computer and using different audio file types, to see if that helps the problem.
