Hello everybody!

I have exciting question about recording bass drum. Assured a lot of You met this.

Tinkling drum beater on drum head!

Ordinary drummers play on bass drum with pressing drum beater on the head and in that case beater provide little terrible tinkling sounds.

Of course if drummer realy pros player he can controll this, play non pressing, with a good feeling and with a good sound, but usually ordinary drummers can't play so - they play like they can play))

On our studio we have great sounding Sonor Designer kit. Usually I use 22" Remo Powerstroke 3 head with remo falam slam pad for more attack sound and drum pedal with felt beater. Micing by N/D868 on resonant head hole.

Particularly this problems happen with rock styles where needs heavy heats and hight attack sound.

How do You avoid this problem? Yours opinions and tips on this theme.
Is it possible avoid this without gating or another processing?
I meen some process before recording exactly - tuning, magic, may be something else. Main- without loss of quality.

When drummers are play pressing strike on bass drum after the strike drum beaters provide little jingling. Very very quiet but it's smear the sound and microfone hear it well.

It's like when you take drum stick and hit the snare drum with press. You hear jinging or in drums it's call 'buzz'.

That theme about this and how to avoid this :)

Welcome to RO. I do feel obligated to explain to you that in the English language, "tinkling" has more than one meaning. "Tinkling" is what a little boy does in the bathroom... I sure hope that's NOT what your drums are doing!!! :lol:
Are you referring to a rattle or "jingling" noise after the beater hits the head? Is it coming from the pedal itself, or from around the drum?
You definitely need to determine WHERE that sound is coming from. Is it the chain on the pedal?
Hopefully, it's not really "tinkling" !

In English, "tinkling" and "jingling" both refer to high, metallic, bell-like tones. If that is accurate, I'd guess it is coming from the pedal hardware and you need to tighten, lubricate, adjust, repair, or replace the pedal. But this may be a translation problem. If so, keep at it. We'll figure it out eventually.

It's not so easy for me to explain what do I meen:)

That's not a pedal or hardware. Thats between beater and drum head exactly!
