Alesis m1 active monitors

mpc2000xl

as of now i got 8 outs from the mpc into the mixer..
then i got 8 outs from the mixer to the ins on the 003..
and then 8 outs from the 003 back into the mixer where i got the events plug into.
i got the mic hooked into a snake going into the mixer.
i was wondering if there was a better way to hook all this up for better sound?
i wanna eq and mix on the Topaz.
please any help would help lol thanx

i got the 8 outs from the mpc going into ch 17-24 of mixer
then i got the 8 outs from the 003 going into ch 25-32 of mixer
sounds pretty good. i really didnt start on room acoustics yet. im surrounded by sheet rock with brick behind it.. put thats another forum.
im wondering if i should go straight from the mpc 8 outs -> 003 8 ins -> 003 8outs -> mixer 8 ins -> mix out -> finalizer -> 003 digital master.
wouldnt that shorten the signal chain and minimize ad/da conversion? i would keep the mic going in to mixer because i think it has better pres then the 003.
in that set up would it be better to have monitors -> 003 main outs to monitor the recorded signal? i also have them alesis too.

That doesn't sound like a bad way to connect it up to me. You probably have to be careful which signal you are listening to when you track.
For example: Your signals might go
Rode -> Snake -> Mixer Channel #1 -> Subgroup #1 -> 003 Ch#1 in -> 003 Ch#1 out -> Mixer Channel #17 -> Monitors
Which mixer channel do you monitor when you're tracking, before it goes into the 003 or after it comes back out?
Do you keep the EQ off on the Playback side of your Topaz while you're tracking?
Do you think your control room or space you're mixing in might be lying to you? Too much bass and not enough bass are very common problems if you don't have a perfect listening area.
