anybody have any opinions on a mic that would go well with the UA 6176? I would mostly be using it for male vocals in pop/rock/alternative styles. also some female vocals. what do you think?

I use the following mics with my UA6176: RE20, Octavia 319, MXL V69mogami, Rode NTK, AEA R84DJV... actually, every mic I have used with the 6176 has sounded well. The 6176 has adjustments for gain -10 to +10dB that modifies the sonic quality, as well as the EQ and certainly the 1176LN side.

The 6176 is a good enough unit that it matches up well with most mic's. I'd suggest those mics that are outstanding is pristine sound quality, very well made and tend to also be very expensive.
