I had a bit of a look round the website. It isn't actually selling anything as such. It has some free pdf's on different recording subjects. I opened one on getting a good vocal.

First thing I noticed is that the English wasn't the greatest. It appears that English is not their first language. I disagreed with some of the advice given ie: setting the preamp level so the maximum peak level is -1dB. I personally think that is too high and will result in no headroom if all tracks are recorded that hot. I have not as yet read the pdf's on other topics.

The author has a link to their own music at cdbaby, and a few samples to listen to. The site is a good effort at trying to make a useful resource for people to learn things about recording, while putting the author's own music out there, and is nicely laid out. I commend people making efforts to think outside the square to get noticed, and at the same time attempt to help other people. However, the information given needs to be accurate and helpful and not bad advice. However, I have some question marks regarding the advice given from what I read so far.

I will run a virus scan as you suggested just in case. However, my feeling regarding the site is that it is one musician/composer's way of trying to get noticed while attempting to help other people along the way. Probably not malicious ( but I can't be sure). It's just that some of the engineering information being given is not sound advice ( sorry for pun) which leaves me a little concerned.

I was contacted by the OP today, She is asking me to reconsider our opinion on spam.

Our forum is about recording. Why do we need to go to your site to learn about audio? If you are truly interested in helping people, please feel more than welcome to share your knowledge with all of us, here.
However, if you are only here to get members to go to your site, this is spam. This definitely looks like marketing spam.

Now that she is here, evaluation like rocksure has given sound mighty appropriate. [[url=http://="http://recording.or…"]bouldersound[/]="http://recording.or…"]bouldersound[/] has good advise.
Please PM me if and went anyone feels this thread should be removed.

I think if Le Vab continues to post and contribute in discussions on various topics here, then after she has participated for a while and posted on various topics and shown to be a bonafide contributor, then this thread won't be seen as spam and she will be seen as a welcome contributor, and her website another possible resource. The problem arises really, I think, because so far she has only contributed the one topic with an external link, posted twice. Personally I welcome her input on the site...as long as it is a balanced contribution and positive input and not just advertising.
