I got this reel-to-reel today from a relative who died. The unit was made between 1964 and 1967, as best I can tell, only it won't power up. Sony quoted me a ship-in price of $154 just to look at it with no guarantee they could get it running again. I'd like insights regarding another place I could take it to get it repaired, a reasonable price I should expect, and a general value judgment of whether this model is quality enough to invest much money into rather than buying a newer one. Thanks in advance.

Sorry for your loss.
You could try these places:

American Appliance3165 S Campbell Ave Springfield MO. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 417-883-1228

Murrell Equipment Company8639 N Farm Road 231 Strafford MO. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 417-759-2851

Be aware it is possible that there can be more problems then power not coming on. If there are mechanical issues it may not be cost effective to repair.

Best Wishes

TC-200

Hi... Sorry for your loss... I too was just handed a TC-200 from a friend and it is in mint condition! My question is not of the monetary value of the unit... I can see their values are all over, up & down on Ebay but I'd like to know is this unit good for anything? How is the recording quality? Anyone have experience with this model?
