Hi,
I got myself a Soundcraft EFX8 mixer. I need recommendation on sound card interface to go with it. I have 2 choice as a setup.

1- My laptop only has USB 2.0 and no PCMCIA slots. Advantage, my laptop is portable and I can do recording outside my house (I play in a Brass quintet).

2- Desktop setup with a Firewire 1394. More stability for home recording but no mobility capacity.

I have a Roland HP-330 as a digital keyboard that I use for both live and Midi recording. So, I had my eyes on a few models. Focusrite Saffire LE, Fast Track Pro, Tascam UL-122 or UL-144.

Thanks ahead of time for your opinions. 8-)

What laptop? Does it have Express Card? If so then get an Express Card adapter for firewire. I would be quite surprised if it didn't have one or the other unless its a netbook or something.

It is no secret I am not a fan of USB interfaces and for many reasons. That can be adequate for two channel recording but I still don't like them.
