I wonder if anyone else uses Steinberg's Free Filter plugin program. I've encountered a problem attempting to install it on Win2K. It reads available disk space for installation as a negative number and will not proceed. I've found out from the cubase.net forum that a lot of other people have experienced this.

One solution mentioned is to make a 2 gig partition on your harddrive and install it there. I don't see why you should have to do this.

Any thoughts?

Steinberg's offical response is to go to their forums and ask the mods over there which I did. There was an update on Steiny's website and it was 50% successful. I was able to load the plugin using it and quickly tried it in Cubase VST successfully. However, when I try to use it in Wavelab 3.0 it crashes.

I'm with you, lambchop. It feels wrong not to get decent support when you are a legitimate user.
Sure hope you find a good solution soon.

I myself am still waiting for a fix to a Native Instrument Battery bug under Logic Audio that I reported over a year ago. Damn thing skips notes when the track is selected in the arrange window  . I even vented on their (support monitored) website forum. They're too busy cranking out new products rather than give support to their existing (loyal) customers. Guess that's where the money is    .

Yeah, that's where the money is for them!!! Man, I sure hope you're a MAC user, 'cause if you're a PC user you know they'll never give you the time of day since they got bought by Apple. And if you are a MAC user, you should just "keep in their face" on the forums and such. Hopefully embarrassment and bad press can be an effective tool in addressing a paying customer's concerns.

By the way, as an update I found a workaround to getting Free Filter to work in Wavelab 3.04. I downloaded VB-Audio's free FFX16 DirectX rack and installed the plugin in that and now use it as a DirectX plugin. Pretty stupid that Steinberg's VST Plugin doesn't work in VST mode in Steinberg's other products. I've read that this problem has now been resolved in Wavelab 4.0, but they need to support their earlier products as well.
