What are you doing and what do they demand..?
This is research that I am doing, maybe it could help many if we discussed it openly here.
Off the top of my head :
1. What kind of "surround" work are you seeing, or expecting to see ?
2. Who are your current clients and anticipated clients ?
3. What are people paying (hourly / project) for "surround" work ?...major metro.
4. What are your clients expecting to see in your facility, or asking to see ?..ei -PT, 5.1, 7.1, variety of sync and monitoring of video, overdubs, tracking, authoring, etc., etc..you get the idea.
5. add your questions. .

Give it some time, not everyone checks all the boards every day.

1. For me, very few clients are asking for or even the slightest bit interested in 5.1 mixing. But that is not to say it will not change, possibly very soon.
2. My clients are all hip-hop, R&B, and pop music producers/labels. I anticipate more of the same.
3. No idea.
4. My clients expect to see PT.
5. Is this a research project, or are you in the process of putting a studio together?

I would take this discussion possibly to the Surround forum on the Pro Talk possibly? M'Kay? This is the DAW world where we primarily discuss computer realted issues...If you want to discuss 5.1 please go to the surround forums...thank you
