Just wondering what's used (hardware that is) to record 5.1/5.2 surround using SX? Mainly, I'm seeking info on what type of mixer, the best, or better yet, decent monitors & any additional processing that's used to get this started.

for a cheap level entry setup, I've found the Soundblaster Audigy a best bet for utitsing surround sound recording / playback in Cubase / Nuendo. My home setup is using the Audigy with a 7.1 speaker setup, then I have to add in a surround bus (5.0/5.1/6.0/6.1/7.0/7.1/8.0/8.1/8.2/10.2!!) - the Audigy works fine, and recording... omg it works too! I have sampled DVD sound directly thru my DVD drive (using the digital cable from drive to soundcard) into Nuendo using the bus configuration and recording all 6 channels (5x satellite and the sub) all at the same time!! So for a cheap yet very cost effective setup (soundcard about £70-£100 / $140-$200 as of today's cash 09/11/04, and speakers... £76 / $150 for 7.1!! its true!! http:// has them £100/$200 cheaper than anyone else!!) this is ideal. I imagine that if using true rack hardware, a MOTU soundcard with 24 optical channels should do just as good, its the case of setting up your surround speakers accordingly (im guessing here as I've yet to try it in real-mode so to say).

Hope this helps a bit
