I am in a recording session and we want to use a talk box on the bass for an intro to a song. Does anyone have any ideas for which mic to use? Has anyone tried this and how did it turn out?
Thanks

Have you actually played the BASS through this talkbox? The very nature of the talkbox would cause me to doubt it. A TB uses a HF horn driver to push your sound through a pvc tube. HF drivers do NOT like bass guitar!!!
The diaphragm will quickly BLOW due to the low notes of the bass and the recommended crossover point of the HF driver being total opposites. That's why there is a crossover to a HF driver- to keep the lows from reaching it and frying the guts!
Having said that, I use a TB on my guitar, and have been a fiend with it for 20 years! You mic it with a Shure SM58 or an Audix OM7. Watch the spit that will get blown out from the tubing! As for using it with a bass, I'd say forget it and use a VOCODER instead.
