Upgraded with new MOBO :Gigabyte GA-81848P775-G & Intel P$ 3.0ghz processor and have to reformat system drive. Will be installing XP Pro and was wondering at which point to install SP1 or even if it's absolutely necessary.
I just faintly remeber the headache I had getting it(SP1) going and running smoothly on my first XP Pro DAW.
Any suggestions or insight will be greatly appreciated as I'm in the mist of the upgrade now.

Immediately after installing Windows, install SP2. Some people have had problems with SP2, but that's generally for people who have installed SP2 long into using their current 'install', not from a fresh install.
Some people fear service packs, but I personally think that you should get SP2 post-haste after installing Windows. Don't wait until after your programs are installed, do it when Windows is completely fresh.
