hi all,

i use a DVD-RAM to backup audio projects (done on Nuendo).
it's internal SCSI-2 drive.

the problem is, copying files from and to it is way too slow.
example: 700MB project folder ==> it took 25 minutes!
i mean, it would take half that time to burn it on CD.
imagine how long for a 2GB, 3GB projects or more.

the manual for the drive states sustained transfer rates as follows:

1,385KB/s for 2.6GB discs (that's 81MB/min)
2,770KB/s for 4.7GB discs (double as above)

i've been using 2.6GB discs.

does anybody know why it's so slow?

here is my setup:
P3 1GHz, 512MB RAM, 30GB IDE drive, W98SE, Panasonic LF-D201 DVD-RAM drive

any help would be much appreciated,
many thanks in advance,

Fabrice

thanx for the reply Opus.

i would be happy with the figures the manual states. but i'm not even getting half as fast.

do i have to open the cover to check the card's thruput and termination?

basicly, i don't know how to do it; i'm useless when it comes to computers; i just rely on other people's help.

many thanks,
Fabrice
