hi,

i've come here, because it looks a pretty good place; i usually browse nuendo.com forums but they are closed now for a while.

i would like some advice maybe from the likes of Opus or Brockstrapper or whoever about Windows XP.

i'm going to upgrade from P3 W98SE to P4 W.XP.
the shop which is going to upgrade my DAW suggest going for XP Home since i'm not going to use it at all for internet or networking but just for Nuendo and Wavelab (for audio only basically).

i'm just asking what you guys recommend (Home or Pro) in my case?
Pro is more expensive, i'm not too fussy about that, i'm looking for stability above all.

the guy at the shop seemed sure i would be OK with Home, but i'd like some advice and feedback from users before i decide.

thanks,
Fabrice

PS: BTW, is my DC30+ videocard gonna be redundant with XP?

Well, the main difference between Home and Pro is that Pro allows for dual processor support and networking....Home does not...
Home version should be fine for what you are doing..altho I reccomend Pro as it will have that added feature of being able to network it in the future...you may not think you will need it but what if you do? That's another purchase for software! Why not get the Pro and shut off what you do not need..as you may be aware I have a very comprehensive guide to making XP Pro a serious OS now...without networking...I will be revising it for networking tho.
As far as the DC30 card..I don't know about that but I think I remember someone on the nuendo forums saying that his DC30 was not supported in Xp..I'd confirm that but you know what the status of the Nuendo forums is.....DEAD!!!! lol
Opus :D

thanx for that reply Opus,
i think i'm going with XP pro, like you said if i need networking in the future.

as for the nuendo forums, you seem happy they're gone; why is that? i'm just thinking of all those posters now homeless ;)

anyway, cheers for the advice, and i'll probably come back to you for a bit of XP tweaking ;-}
