Ok this is my situation. I am currently recording with Sonar 7, but I want to upgrade later on to Pro Tools as I learn how to use it. Pro Tools only works with m-powerd interfaces. So I dont want to watem oney to get 2 interfaces when I switch. I got a budget limit for only $400. I just want a interface that will give me that clear and warm sounds for my mxl mic (Which needs to be upgraded soon :P )
I saw this M-Audio FireWire 410 Computer Recording Interface and it meet my requierments, but is it really good . Or any other which may fit me shearch? Thank you for your time 8-)

ProTools isn't necessarily an upgrade from Sonar 7. It really depends on what you want to do specifically. And you'll find out that ProTools MPowered can only be run on M-Audio products and that ProTools LE can only be used on Digidesign products. And although the files are cross compatible, the software isn't. Most available plug-ins for ProTools are also available for Sonar. And specific processing cards like the UAD, TC, etc. doesn't necessarily integrate well into Pro tools. Better do some more homework before you blame your equipment & software any further. It ain't your interface and it ain't the software.

And don't forget that ProTools M-Powered is not included with their hardware. It's an optional $300 extra! But if you purchase a Digidesign "M" box of any flavor, it includes ProTools LE! So how's that for a monkey wrench?

You know you're not there when you blame your equipment & software
