Recording Vintage Guitar Amps
Hey all,
A friend of mine made some great video demos of 4 vintage guitar amps from the 50's/60's. Recorded in the studio with front and back mics, a hint of compression and light reverb. Details in the article.

Gain Creep...
So I learned this lesson today. Working on a song - being very conscientious about gain staging in the recording process and have been mixing as I go -- getting to a stage where the mix has revealed itself and I'm pretty clear on where I'm going. then slowly and subtly over time realizing the mix got away from me -- particularly with the levels. Basically mix creep or gain creep...

The "what do you think of this mix" topics - observation
I'm getting old - and I think it's having an impact on these kinds of topics. I've had to listen to younger people's radio stations for a week or two, and I've noticed there's a new type of mix becoming very common. A voice, often male and kick and snare. In the background are the chords, the inner parts, the rest of the kit.
Advice needed on my mix
Hello All,
I am new to recording & mixing my own tracks, I currently have 3 tracks recorded.
This is the first I have mixed. Just like to get some feedback from you guys before moving on the other tracks as I'm sure there are many areas to improve.
Cheers Ash. (y)

What is it with recording studios & the Herman Miller Aeron chair ?
It seems that just about every video you see on Youtube these days, whether it be of a studio tour or a how-to video by {insert well known mix engineer / mastering engineer / recording guru here} there almost always is a Herman Miller Aeron chair conveniently being sat on, in the background or somewhere in shot.
Amazing perfect pitch
This young man is amazing.

Using two different monitors ?
I recently bought a second-hand KRK Rokit 5 g2 and a Yorkville YSM2p. Overall, they sound really good but also a bit different. Is there anything I can do to make two different monitors sound ""the same"" or better than they are right now.

LR Baggs LR-T CV pickup in Breedlove 12 string. Any experience?
Curious whether anyone has experience with this pickup/preamp combo. I spoke with the Breedlove tech dept, and they told me it is an under saddle piezo film (not crystals). They said it gives a much better linear response compared with older style pickups.
