Hello & I hope everybody's had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

As usual, my life always finds ways to keep me so busy that I unfortunately neglect music & recording, however I am starting to change that, which brings me to my next few questions:

I know several members here on RO use them... and I can absolutely see ( hear) why.

I had downloaded a trial version of their EQ last year, and I was knocked out by how "clean" it was.
I don't know exactly how else to describe it, really, other than it allowed me to EQ tracks without them sounding like they had been EQ'd.

1. Which pre-amp would you recommend that has balanced inputs and a nice warm sound

2. Would there be any point in using a nice old Glensound mixing console as a pre-amp or would i get nothing out of it soundwise ?

Hi everybody! I'm new to this site. I've been trying to figure out the type of microphones used in this video for months now! Any suggestions? Thank you! Voice-over actor. Chain: RODE nt1 to dbx 386s to Tascam dr-40 w input gain at 1. Room: 3x4 closet w acoustic foam. Not using computer to save space, eliminate fan noise. Results are quiet (no hiss or hum) but VOs sound brittle and tinny. Is AD conversion compromised greatly by Tascam? Is there a sub $1K recorder that would improve results?

I am looking to record acoustic guitar. A lot of folk and finger picking so low volume playing. Based on what I have read so far I am in the market for Small Diaphragm Condenser(s).

my question is: if i need to record a small performance live outdoor, let's say a rooftop of a house, what's the easiest way to do it in order to get a decent audio track out of it?

This little chord figure worked it's way through my fingers until I decided it had to be recorded on Saturday/Sunday. This song is very much an existential lament.
