Kmetal's new mid/budget level computer.
Forums
hey all! I'm very excited about this so I figured I'd share! I created another thread a while back specing out some top level stuff, don't worry it's still coming... As life would have it what I thought was $800 in car repairs, was actually a totaled '03 Honda Civic instead. I'm obviously not a mechanic lol. So long story short my 15k setup is going towards a car.

Critique request - Touching up an old mix
Forums
Hey there! This is my first time posting on Recording.org. I would like some opinions/thoughts/suggestions on this mix if you have the time, please. I recorded and mixed this cover song in Febuary-March and have since learned more about mixing and decided to touch up the mix a little bit. ANY help on this mix would be much appreciated. I've uploaded both versions of the mix.

Lifespan of surge protectors?
Forums
How do I know when a surge protection device has outlived its usefulness?
I have 2 Furman M-8LX units that I used in a small concert hall 3 or 4 times a week for about 4 years.
I also have an Aris 614 unit that I've used in my home studio for at least 20 years (!).

Reasons to track at lower levels
Forums
Hey guys,
I know we've been discussing that in different threads over the years but I just thought we could do a fresh discussion to see if things have changed and put all our reflexions to a single thread.

I know this is an old article, and may have already been discussed nigh to death, but my searches couldn't find it, so here goes.

Please Critique this Prog Rock Mix, "On the Planet"
Forums
Please check out this mix of a prog/hard rock song. There are a lot of elements here, and I need to know if every instrument is fully represented.
The higher numbered track is the most recent mix.

Nice Plug from TDR - Nova EQ
Forums
I recently watched a video with Andrew Scheps, where he talks about the use of "dynamic" ( also referred to as "active") EQ - this is NOT the same as Multi Band Compression.

Addressing dynamic microphone
Forums
Hi,
Reading the manual to AT BP40 I've noticed it is defined as "front addressing microphone with in-built pop filter", but in pretty much all youtube videos where people are using it, they address it from the side (approx. 45 degree angle). Is it just about "try what works best for you" or certain way is actually preferred? Thanks.
