Hi guys, I'm looking for a plugin to use as an instrument tuning effect that displays the fundamental frequency for the note/pitch your playing at. Now this effect would use that number to control a volume knob that will turn the volume of the audio up and down in real time with the changes in the fundamental frequency.

As a preface, I'm not a sound pro--more like a hobbyist who is getting a bit more serious about all of this (and who loves the tech). That out of the way, my wife is an elementary school teacher. Each year they put on a play for which the first and second-graders perform a play, sing songs, and do a bit of dancing.

So I'm trying to set up an all in one home studio/workstation. I am wondering what device I need for my situation, be it a DAC (Digital Audio Converter) or a ADC (Audio Digital Converter) or an Audio Interface.

I found this video interesting, as it's a problem that I think all engineers can run into from time to time.

How to listen in the most subjective way, especially to a song you've already heard many times during the recording stage.

I like what he says, regarding putting the most weight on the first and most fresh listen.

I'm pretty much in agreement with Dan Thompson's ( no relation, LOL) remarks on the video below.

Personally, I use them more for analytical referencing; checking for too much effect on certain tracks, panning, space and separation, listening for things like a short/cut fade, clicks or pops, etc.
