Mixing Piano
Any tips on mixing piano? The source is a Korg 01W so I don't have to worry about mic placement. I just want to avoid a muddy bottom.

Does anyone still slate takes?
Hi all,
I've been listening to the third Chicago album a lot lately. It starts with the last bit of an engineer slating the take. You hear a very distinct "One" followed by tuning, warming up etc.
It got me to wondering if people still slate takes, on the multitrack, and/or the mixes. Does anyone here do it? I think I may start, especially on my newly rebuilt 2".

Jeff Buckley / Andy Wallace
with all the talk of hits and mixes lately - was wondering if anyone has taken a good ear to Buckley's "Grace".
I never really gave a serious listen to any of the Buckley albums - yet it was the mix that I decided to "study" last night before a few hours of sleep.

Has anyone tried the TL Audio VTC?
I'm thinking about picking one up to be used as submixer for my digital effects(480L,M3000,DSP7000,etc). A while ago I used a little Langevin tube mixer for this purpose, and got a great blend without having to EQ my aux sends and returns as much. I think a while back I read that JJP was using a UA mixer(with the new 610 preamps) for this purpose.

EPROMs for Studer A80 autolocator ?
I'm trying to locate EPROMS for the autolocator of my Studer A80VU MKII 24 track. Does anyone know a source for these. I haven't been able to get ahold of the Studer parts department in Canada, nor do I expect them to have parts more than 20 years old.
Thanks

Recording one voice
Mostly doing synth & sample based stuff in PT/Logic/BiasPeak in my B/W G3- i'm asked to record a female friend giving relaxation exercises (in a sort of living room, at low volume).
I think i use my reliable HHB Pro portable dat recorder ( I leave my vintage but still good Revox G36 (736) all valves 1/4 inch recorder at home -i guess).

Fancy cables
I have a Mackie 1604 VLZ Pro (8 direct outs) and I was thinking about in the future, using the inserts as inserts and direct outs on channels 9-16. I was thinking about how to build the cables for this but I'm not sure. Does someone knows how to do this?
