Acorn 411 (early SSL) channelstrip?
Forums
Hello.
I've been offered two Acorn CF411 channels. These were built by SSL founder Colin Sanders, right before he started working on the SSL 4000B.

Surface Mount Componants? sound like crap !
Forums
Hi All,
Can anyone tell me if there is anyone making gear with discrete componants anymore?
The reason Neumann & Neve were great & expensive was the cost of great Caps & Resistor etc !

Could you rate my signal path?
Forums
I have one very simple question, would this signal path, if produced competently, yield vocals that to the untrained ear would effectively assimilate to vocal tracks heard in Top 40 music? Here's the signal path:
(Wall-foam'd closet) > Neumann TLM 102 > BLUE Robbie Preamp > M-Audio Profire 610 A/D Converter > Macbook Pro
Thank you very much!

Biamp 2442 Recording, Mixing Console questions
Forums
I was just given a Biamp 2442 Recording Console. I am going to have to get the power supply fixed I think. I was thinking about using it as a summing mixer or for its pres since its got Direct outs on every channel. Or just selling it as is for a few bucks. Its in really good shape i mean almost zero wear even the leather hand rest is in perfect condition.

Question about Sonar X1 and Reaper
Forums
This isn't really meant to be a DAW vs DAW thread, so heres the situation. I used a version of Cubase a long time ago when I was first learning from a fellow artist who engineers his own music. The artist I do music with now and I bought some gear off another friend and it included Magix Music Studio 12(very old version considering now its Music Maker series).

Trade work for gear (Sweet Deals)
Forums
I have a friend that owes me money for side work I did for him, he's an ex music engineer, he's pretty broke so he's willing to cut me deals on mint condition gear from his now closed down studio.
I'm in the market for a new interface and pre's, since my old setup has ran out of life.
Here's the deals he's working to hook me up with.
