I just started working with steinberg nuendo and I'm having trouble merging events on a track. I did a few punch-ins and now it shows the track name and take number, but when I go to edit the track and apply fx, etc. it does not apply to the recorded punch-in. I believe nuendo considers this an audio event.

I'm trying to record a demo for my electronic post rock band.

The track begins with a simple keyboard loop. Seconds later, the bass and guitars enter (at the same time).

The problem I'm having is trying to make the guitars/bass entrance sound really MASSIVE.

I have been doing some research on some good authentic software instruments. And I came across Colossus from East West/Quantum Leap. From what I read it seems to have all the instuments I need, piano, orchestra, bass, strings the whole nine yards. Im alittle new to the midi software game. My question is has anybody heard these instruments and the quality of them?

I'm currently using nuendo and the dm 24. however I'm opening a studio to the public and would like to buy a new set up. I'm looking to get pro tools 003 and the new Tascam dm 4800. the problem I'm having is that the new Tascam has a great firewire hook up that does 32 i/o and it seems that Pro Tools won't work with this board.

hey I'm looking for a good quality track so I'm buying a new recording set up...right now i have an Alesis USB mutlimix USB mixer and a Samson CO3 condenser mic.

I'm looking at this is this good will it give me better quality? if not what are some suggestions

hello everyone, this is my first post on here. I have already found a wealth of information after my discovery of this site tonight. Let me introduce myself. My name's Brett, i'm from Jax Florida and i'm in a band Post Faction. We've been touring/playing for a few years now, recorded a few EP's with some well known producers, and now i'm ready for the recording fun in the comfort of my home.

Ive often wondered if there is a set method used by trained/pro engineers as a starting point when mixing material.
After all the tracking/dynamics/comp/eqing/pan etc.. is done and it comes time to blending all the instruments together in a final mix,what instrument usually is the starting point?

I have a Tascam TSR-8. It had been working fine until the other day when it just wouldn't play back. it kinda got stuck. Then today I started getting this weird horrible white noise/scratch/static sound when playing back what I recorded as well as some odd speed dips here and there.

I've been told that outboard reverb is better than even the best plugins. But is it *that* much better? If I spend $2,500 on a t.c. electronics Reverb 4000, for example, will it sound a lot better than the best plugin reverbs (like Waves, for example)?

So I had my project in Sonar all spruced up, saved, and ready to export. I save a quick .wav to my SD card to play through another medium to check my mixing, saved one last time, and closed down Sonar because I wouldn't be back anytime soon.

When I finally returned, I re-opened the project to make some minor adjustments and came across a major problem.
