what is the best?

I have a choice at RODE Nt5, the SM81, the sm94, Sennheiser E614, Shure KSM141/SL.

does anyone know if the PCM units like Lexicon 70, h3000, Yamaha spx-90, and mytek 8X192 use hybrid IC coupled with op-amps?

and could anyone please verify if the el-8 distressor uses a hybrid IC with the individual semiconductor being op-amps as well? and if it is coupled with PCM technology would that define this particular piece as linear or non-linear?

I've been using Cool Edit Pro/Adobe Audition for a few years now to record my musical projects, but I think I would like to expand my arsenal.

I'm having a horrible experience with my Tascam DP-01FX Digital Recorder. Most recently (today, two hours ago), it has undergone such a mode where I cannot turn off the machine properly, exit song, or press basically any button without receiving a "Not Stopped" message.

Got into an argument with my roommate about amp emulation. My first guitar amp was a Line 6 Flextone II. Which to this day i still have and I love it. My roommate said my amp was crap and hes never heard a good sound from it. On the flip side i know an experienced musician who owns a Variax and owns one of the modeled guitars on the variax.

does anyone in here know's what this is?

The guy at the local music store told me I can't upgrade my i/o to something bigger like MOTU. He says I have to stick to Digidesign hardware. Anyone know about this?

I have been drooling over those mic's for 2 years now. I am curious to hear what other people have to say about them. I can't seem to find many reviews out there. I have the demo disc, and like what I hear. But I am just wondering how they perform for other people?

What are some of the "workhorse" plugs from Waves Diamond Bundle. I'm just curious how much mileage I can get it out of it (and whether or not it is a bunch of filler with one or two solid plugs). I'm assuming based on price alone, their stuff is high quality. I just haven't had a chance to demo it.
