I recorded a bit tonight using 24 bit and have never done this before. Now when I go to open previously recorded projects that were done in 16 bit I get the message "samplerate could not be set. This may be due to the sampleclock being set to an external sync" Now the 16 bit projects are playing too fast and sound like the Chipmonks.

I want to use logic (with all it's plugins) but configure audio ins and outs via an ADAT bridge and an 888.

As I understand it, if I use ESB I can only have eight outputs from logics mixer into the TDM gear although I don't know how the inputs for this system would work.

I have been playing with an Otari MX-5050 (MKII or III I don't recall off the top of my head) 2-track desk for my stereo mixes. So far I actually prefer my Tascam DA-30 MKII over this reel-to-reel. Is it my ears or do I have a deck that might be a lemon? I had it setup by a good tech and the heads are still in really good shape.

I'm curious what are the pros & cons for mixing down straight to a CD-burner if I am recording in analog.

I record singer-songwriter type acoustic music on a Tascam 388, and when I do my mixes, I mix down to a stand-alone component CD-burner.

Could anyone tell me why loop effects should be panned? Is it not better to live them in mono so that they are at the center of the stereo field? Any guideline on panning them properly.

If I track at 24 bit at 48k, is my sound quality on the final product going to be noticably better? If so, how do I get it to 16bit on the final mix. I have the Wavesuv22 (?) which I think is used to dither from 24 to 16, but I've never used it. Is it hard to get it dithered without getting artifacts such as pops and clicks that I've heard about?

I need a good dir-x delay plug that will allow setting seperate delay times for left and right channels.

Any suggestions?

Free would be nice, but not absolutely necessary.

I don't really need a huge plugin bundle.

Greetings, all! I know many people which prefer route returns from reverbs in channel strips of the desk. Thus they sometimes eq and/or compress them. What are the benefits of this srategy? I mean in studio work, not in live work?
