looking to buy a mic preamp and an A/D...looking for some advic

I've got the Digi002 and I want a 2 channel preamp and an A/D converter that I can then go into the SPDIF inputs of the 002. ...

I'm looking to spend anywhere between $1000-$2000 for both things together. I wonder if anyone has any suggestions for the best stuff I can get in this range for this purpose?

Thanks!

Royer R-121 mic preamp question?

I have been thinking about buying a new mic lately as i haven't exactly gotten great tones from my current ones, a sm57 and an at3035. sometimes they are okay, but i keep hearing great things about the r-121. my question is, would this mic make a major difference in my sound even though i am using an mbox(which i love, but it may not necessarily have the best preamps).

mic preamp

this is another one of my stupid questions but its bothering me, ok everyone says your should add effect/eq while mixing, so where do mic preamps and such come in cause if you record with a mic peamp you cant go back and undo what you did so why go thru a mic preamp or any kinda preamp

$2000 to put into 8 mic preamp's - recommendations?

Hello everybody, I have $2000 to lay down on to try to get some workhorse mic preamps for my studio. Right now I have a cheap mixer (Alesis) and an ART Digital MPA Pro (which I really like on vocals and guitar), all going into a Digi 002. My main goal right now is to put together something that will sound good on drum tracks, so a combined 8 channels would be preferred.
