Hi everybody,
this is my first post, and i'm not english, so before a i begin: "SORRY! (in a general manner...:)". I have started to reform my old studio and the main inversion will be the mixer/controller. I use Pro Tools LE in a macpro.
Recording (live or studio)
So i buyed AT3035 mic and its great! Better i thought it will be. Now thers 2 switches on it... One is low cut whis i know what itis and its usefull when recording vocals and second is -"10db pad"... what is that? And when should i use it?
I am wondering if these mics are suceptable to long cables. I tried to use a pair for the first time in a Cathedral yesterday for a Choral recording but they were unusable because of hum and other noise.
A pair of DPA4006 and a Neumann SM 69 were fine on the same cables.
I am running 2 converters, a MOTU 2408, and a MOTU 2408 MKII. For the purposes of leveling I a generating a 1k tone at 0dB out of my RME sound card via light pipe. That is goes to my 2408, which converts it to analog. The analog signal then goes directly to my 2408 MKII which is sent via light pipe back to my sound card. When the signal leaves it is at 0dB, when it returns it is at -6dB.
I just got this thing setup and my condenser mic plugs in and works properly but I'm having trouble getting any sound when I plugin my guitar or bass into the instrument input.
Any ideas?
Thanks!

Hi everybody I just found this site after doing some searches trying to find some info on recording tips. With the fear of being bombarded with comments saying I should go and use the "search" button, I did and spent the past 2 hours trying to inform myself. (not enough searching, i know) and decided to post anyway
I recently acquired this fender solid state bass head. But I have no clue what kind of head it is. Does anyone know the exact name or any details of it?

hi i'm a total beginmer to home recording and need a bit of advice on how to get started. I searched the forums but couldn't find an answer so sorry if this has already been covered.
i use vamp2, I'm not satisfied with its equalizer bcause its kind of limited.
i dont own a good amp but i want to know if i get a seperate equalizer like
a dunlop MXR 10 band EQ can a seperate equalizer make a difference in live and recording situations.
